The Pointe au Baril and Area Nursing Station is located adjacent to the Pointe au Baril Community Centre at 70 South Shore Road in Pointe au Baril Station.  The Nursing Station is also accessible by water with a dock fronting the Community Centre.

The Nursing Station is funded by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care and is operated and managed by the West Parry Sound Health Centre (WPSHC).

After more than 30 years, a new nursing station has been constructed.  The new facility is more accessible and safe and will better serve all of its patients and their families. The new structure also serves as an ambulance base with an attached ambulance garage.

History of the Pointe au Baril and Area Nursing Station

The Pointe au Baril and Area Nursing Station was initiated in the 1980’s by the Pointe au Baril Lions Club due to the lack of services in the area. They worked tirelessly to get funding, raise funds and work with all their community partners to establish the service, as well as, acquire the property, build the building and partner with the provincial government, (Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, Under-Serviced Area Program) to provide the nursing services to this small community

With the support of the Township of Archipelago, the former Parry Sound District Hospital (now WPSHC), the local community and Islanders Associations and Medical Associates, the Nursing Station first opened its doors in August of 1985.
