Pointe au Baril Community Centre

The Pointe au Baril Community Centre is home to a public library, a small multi-purpose meeting room, a large event hall, and a fitness facility. The Community Centre hosts many events annually for residents and non-residents of The Archipelago.  The local community makes regular use of the Community Centre to host such events as church and memorial services, rummage sales and bazaars, family gatherings and weekly pickleball and euchre games.  

The multi-purpose room is equipped with a kitchenette making it a suitable space for meetings, card games and small events.

The main hall has a capacity of 186 people.  Patio doors exit onto a balcony and screened-in porch overlooking beautiful Georgian Bay.  It is equipped with a complete commercial kitchen making it a perfect location for weddings, parties and special events.  The large raised stage area, projector screen and sound system make it an ideal location for theatrical and music performances.  Arts on the Bay is a popular annual event held throughout the summer months in Pointe au Baril.

Fitness Facility 

The fitness facility includes the following pieces of equipment: treadmill, elliptical, FT2 Inspire, free weights, TRX straps, resistance bands, and yoga mats and blocks. Changerooms are available for residents to use. Please remember there is no outdoor footwear allowed in the fitness facility. Each session will cost $2.00, and residents are asked to submit payment in the lock box located in the fitness facility. 

All users entering the fitness facility must sign a consent and liability waiver prior to their first use. The form can be found in the fitness facility underneath the lock box. All individuals using the facility should enter through the side doors of the Community Centre and proceed directly to the fitness facility, located in the first door on the left. 

The current hours of operations are: 

Sunday: Closed

Monday: 9:00am to 4:00pm

Tuesday: 1:00pm to 8:00pm

Wednesday: 9:00am to 4:00pm

Thursday: 9:00am to 4:00pm

Friday: 9:00am to 4:00pm 

Saturday: Closed

Statutory Holidays: Closed 

Please be sure to check the website or call the Township Office for operating hours around summer event schedules, etc. 

Potable Water

A free drinking water filling station is available 24/7 outside the Pointe au Baril Community Centre (70 South Shore Road), located on the side of the wall facing the parking lot. 

If by any chance you should find the water is cloudy or detect an odour, we ask that you immediately please call our Public Works Emergency Hotline at 1-800-460-5736 to report this.

Outdoor Rink 
Unsupervised Rink - Use of the rink is at the users’ own risk.
  • Permitted activities include:
    • Skating
    • Ice Hockey
    • Broomball
    • Ringuette
    • Curling
  • Restricted activities include:
    • No horseplay
    • No alcohol or drug consumption
    • No food or drinks on the ice
    • No body-contact or checking
    • No pets on the ice surface

  • Ice must be 2-inches thick prior to skating. Any repairs constituting a safety hazard will result in the closure of the rink.
  • Protective equipment (such as a helmet) is recommended.
  • Supervision of children is required at all times.
  • Users are to adhere to appropriate conduct and etiquette when using the rink.
  • All rink users hold harmless and indemnify the Township of The Archipelago. The Township does not assume any responsibility for any injuries, damages, or losses incurred while using the facility. Users acknowledge that participating in activities on the rink involves inherent risks, including, but not limited to, falls, collisions, and equipment failure. By using the rink, users voluntarily accept all risks associated with these activities.
Volunteers may assist with rink operations. Please contact Ashley Gardner at agardner@thearchipealgo.ca to register as a volunteer.
