Activation of the Designated Cooling Centre

With the summer season upon us the hot weather has arrived! In an effort to provide relief for those who need it, the Township of The Archipelago has opened a Designated Cooling Centre.

Members of the public can seek relief from the heat at the Pointe au Baril Community Centre during its current operational hours located at 70 South Shore Road, Pointe au Baril, ON. Upon arrival, you can expect to find a climate-controlled environment, seating, and plenty of drinking water.

It is important to note that the Designated Cooling Centre is designed to be a short-term accommodation available to the public when daily temperatures are expected to reach 31℃ or higher and overnight temperatures are at least 20℃ or higher for two consecutive days or a humidex of 40℃ or higher for two consecutive days.
