Council Adopts Comprehensive Zoning By-law Amendment No. A2224-26

The Council of the Township of The Archipelago passed Comprehensive Zoning By-law Amendment No. A2224-26 on May 22, 2026. The new by-law updates the Township’s Comprehensive Zoning By-law No. A2000-07 and applies to lands across the Township.

Effective May 22, 2026, all development applications and building permit applications must comply with the provisions in both Zoning By-law No. A2000-07 and the new Zoning By-law No. A2224-26. Where provisions differ, the more restrictive provisions will apply.

The 20-day appeal period for Zoning By-law No. A2224-26 begins on the date the Notice of Passing is issued. Any appeal to the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) must be filed within that period. Further information on the appeal process is available in the Notice of Passing and on the OLT Website.

If no appeals are filed by the end of the 20-day appeal period, the provisions of Zoning By-law No. A2224-26 will come into full force and effect. If an appeal is filed, the by-law or portions of the by-law under appeal will be subject to the Ontario Land Tribunal process.
