NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Council receives the Zoning By-law Amendment applications for Island No. 108A and Island No. 103A, and directs staff to circulate them for a future public meeting;

AND FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED that Council approves of a donation to the Georgian Bay Land Trust in the amount of $2000.00, which is the equivalent to the costs incurred by the GBLT, with respect to the two applications.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Council receives the October 2012 Council Correspondence listing.

i) TOWNSHIP OFFICE
   CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Council authorizes the closure of the Township office during Christmas holidays from December 24th, 2012 to, and including, January 1st., 2013;

AND FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED that staff be required to use vacation days as required.

ii) DISTRICT OF PARRY SOUND MUNICIPAL ASSOCIATION
    FEDERAL RIDING BOUNDARIES

WHEREAS the District of Parry Sound Municipal Association intends to make a submission to the Federal Electoral Boundary Commission at its upcoming Public Hearings on behalf of the member Municipalities affected by the proposed electoral boundary changes for the ridings of Nipissing and Parry Sound-Muskoka;

AND WHEREAS the following Municipalities wish to remain in the Parry Sound- Muskoka riding and not be integrated into the riding of Nipissing as proposed by the Commission: Township of Machar, Township of Strong, Township of Joly, Village of Sundridge and the Village of South River;

AND WHEREAS all the neighbouring municipalities in the District of Parry Sound also wish to preserve the Parry Sound-Muskoka riding in its current form;

NOW THEREFORE be it resolved that Council of the Township of The Archipelago supports the District of Parry Sound Municipal Association's brief to the Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission for Ontario for the presentation to be made at the public hearing to be held in North Bay on Tuesday October 16, 2012.

iii) ASSOCIATION OF MUNICIPALITIES OF ONTARIO (AMO)
    ARBITRATION REFORM

WHEREAS the Township of The Archipelago is pleased that both the Liberal government and the PC party have kept the issue of interest arbitration reform at the forefront of major policy discussions;

AND WHEREAS the Township of The Archipelago supports the overall intention of interest arbitration reform;

AND WHEREAS a preliminary review indicates that there appears to be room for improvement in both pieces of draft legislation before the legislature;

AND WHEREAS the Township of The Archipelago trusts that through further consultation these issues can be resolved;

AND WHEREAS the Township of The Archipelago is aware that AMO and the Emergency Services Steering Committee are reviewing these issues and look forward to further discussion and input;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Township of The Archipelago requests that the legislature will work collectively in the best interest of Ontario municipalities and Ontario taxpayers on this important issue of interest arbitration reform.

iv) WEST PARRY SOUND HEALTH CENTRE
     INVITATION TO MEETING – October 29, 2012

v) HIGHWAY 69 FOUR-LANING
    SITE 9 ROAD – PERMISSION TO CONSTRUCT

WHEREAS the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) intends to widen King's Highway 69 within the Township of The Archipelago to a four-lane, fully controlled access freeway;

AND WHEREAS it is proposed to re-align and extend Site 9 Road from the new interchange at the extension of Highway 529, southerly to Shawanaga River;

AND WHEREAS work will be required within and adjacent to the existing road allowance within the Township of The Archipelago in order to reconstruct and upgrade a section of existing Site 9 Road to municipal road standards;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the Township of The Archipelago grants permission to Her Majesty The Queen in Right of Ontario, as represented by the Minister of Transportation, Her employees, agents, contractors and consultants, to enter municipal lands within and adjacent to the existing road allowance to construct the portion of Site 9 Road described above.

vi) JOHN VANTHOF, MPP TIMISKAMING-COCHRANE
     TOWNSHIP OF SEGUIN RESOLUTION NO. 2012-291

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council for the Township of The Archipelago supports the Township of Seguin Resolution No. 2012-291to request the Parry Sound District Municipal Association and the Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities to pass a resolution requesting that the MPP for Parry Sound-Muskoka, introduce a motion in the provincial legislature, to include the MPP for Parry Sound-Muskoka on any Northern Committee of MPPs that is formed by the Legislature.
