15. OTHER BUSINESS

     i) GREAT LAKES AND ST. LAWRENCE CITIES INITIATIVE
        WAUKESHA DIVERSION PROPOSAL

WHEREAS the water levels on Georgian Bay have finally rebounded in 2015 after a long period of decline;

AND WHEREAS the full impact of Climate Change on the Great Lakes Basin remains unknown and requires further study;

AND WHEREAS the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence River Basin Water Resources Compact allows for diversions into a straddling county as a last resort for providing potable water to residents when no other alternative is available;

AND WHEREAS the request by the City of Waukesha, Wisconsin which is located outside the Great Lakes Basin but is located in Waukesha County which is a straddling County between the Great Lakes Basin and the Mississippi River Basin;

AND WHEREAS the technical report does not take into account the decline in industrial use in the City of Waukesha and which report further states that the current potable water aquifers are adequate to meet current and future needs of the City of Waukesha with additional supplemental radium treatment;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council for the Township of The Archipelago objects to the proposed Waukesha Water Diversion proposal and strongly disagrees with, and opposes the recommendations/conclusions found in the draft Wisconsin DNR Technical Review and Environmental Impact Statement;

AND FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED that the Council for The Archipelago request that the Governors of the eight Great Lakes States and the Premiers of both Ontario and Quebec support the Townships position and object to the Waukesha Diversion Proposal.

ii) RE-ESTABLISHMENT OF WEST PARRY SOUND RECREATION CENTRE ADVISORY COMMITTEE

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that a West Parry Sound Recreation Centre Advisory Committee be established consisting of one elected representative of each of the seven West Parry Sound Area Municipalities, Wasauksing and Shawanaga First Nations, one citizen to be appointed by each of the seven municipalities and two First Nations and a member representing each of the Near North District School Board (NNDSB) and the West Parry Sound Health Centre, and

FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED that the committee develops terms of reference to be approved by each of the participating partners, and

FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED that the committee develops an action plan with milestones, ultimately for the consideration of the participating partners.

   iii) BELVEDERE HEIGHTS HOME FOR THE AGED
        REPRESENTATIVE'S REPORT (Lynne Gregory)

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Council receives the report on Belvedere Heights dated July 2015, submitted by Lynne Gregory, representative for the Townships of McDougall, Carling and The Archipelago.
