6.  HEARING OF APPLICATIONS

i)   KROUPA, Milan - Application A04-14

Purpose and Effect of the Application:

The applicant is requesting relief from Section 7.1.3 e) Minimum Front Yard Setback, of the Township's Comprehensive Zoning By-law No. A2000-07, as amended, which stipulates that the minimum front yard setback shall be 7.5 metres (25 feet).

The purpose of the proposed application is to allow a variance of 3.35 metres (11 feet) from the minimum front yard setback of 7.5 metres (25 feet). The effect of the variance would be the construction of a 35.7 square metre (384 square feet) boat storage building having a front yard setback of 4.27 metres (14 feet).

The reason for the application is because of the geography of the island that the owner wishes to design the boat storage building to house a specialty vehicle.

ii)   SHEPHERD, Carolin - Application A05-14

Purpose and Effect of the Application:

The applicant is seeking relief from Section 5.2 c) iii) of the Township's Comprehensive Zoning By-law No. A2000-07, which restricts the reconstruction of legal non-complying buildings to their existing uses and Section 5.7 b) of said By-law, which requires that decks attached to accessory buildings maintain a front yard setback of 7.5 metres.

The purpose of the proposed application is to allow for the existing legally non complying accessory building, which historically was used as a studio/workshop, to be reconstructed and replaced with a sauna/screened in porch with an attached, uncovered deck.

The effect of the proposed variance will result in replacing the 53.5 square metre (576 square feet) non-complying studio/workshop, with a new 50 square metre (540 square feet) sauna/screened in porch and attached uncovered deck. The historical studio/workshop had a front yard setback of 1.8 metres (6 feet). The proposal would permit the change in use and an uncovered deck with a front yard setback of 1.8 metres (6 feet), which is a variance of 5.7 metres (18.7 feet).
